Chiasso, pronounced (Kee-ar-so) is Italian for "create an uproar". It is also the name of a small town on the Swiss Italian border and has come to mean superb, fresh roasted coffee.
Chiasso Coffee Roasters was established in Brisbane, Australia in 1999. In 2011 Andrew and Sharon took over the business looking to further develop their passion for quality coffee.
The aim of the venture was to provide freshly roasted gourmet coffee to the increasingly discerning coffee drinking public, in a way that would create a point of difference. This was achieved by creating an identity in the market place by way of unique quality and presentation. While the southern states are still known for their coffee, we believe that Brisbane is fast catching up and are happy to contribute to this success.
Under the guidance of a master roaster from Monza, Italy, Chiasso has developed its own distinct blends of coffee, using only the finest beans from around the world. We only source A-grade or higher quality beans for our blends and look for both Organic and Fairtrade certification where possible.
The Chiasso roastery is open to the public and has a range of single-origin coffees and accessories that will appeal to the home barista. The variety of coffee available can be overwhelming for those that want a good coffee for home - we encourage you to sample a couple of different origins and if you are visiting the display shop we can make them for you to help you decide.
